Course Overview

From Engineering Projects to Effective Project Leadership.

Construction and infrastructure projects operate within increasingly complex technical, financial, contractual, organizational, environmental, and social environments.

Successful project delivery therefore requires professionals who understand not only engineering and construction, but also planning, management, finance, contracts, procurement, quality, safety, risk, leadership, and decision-making.

The Master of Science in Construction Management (M.Sc. CM) at Universal Engineering & Science College is a specialized postgraduate program offered under the affiliation of Pokhara University.

The program is designed to develop advanced knowledge and professional capability for the planning, organization, coordination, monitoring, control, and management of construction and infrastructure projects.

It provides engineers, architects, and other eligible professionals with an opportunity to strengthen the managerial and analytical capabilities required to take greater responsibility across the project lifecycle.

Program Structure & Design

What You Will Develop

Plan and Control Complex Projects

Develop the ability to structure projects, establish schedules and resource requirements, monitor performance, identify deviations, and support effective project control.

Manage Cost and Financial Performance

Understand project costs, budgeting, financial considerations, economic decision-making, and the relationship between financial performance and successful project delivery.

Understand Procurement and Contracts

Develop stronger understanding of procurement strategies, contractual relationships, administration, responsibilities, claims, and the commercial environment of construction.

Manage Quality, Safety and Risk

Understand systematic approaches for managing project quality, occupational health and safety, uncertainty, and project risk.

Lead People and Organizations

Strengthen communication, coordination, negotiation, organizational understanding, leadership, and stakeholder-management capability.

Integrate Sustainability

Consider environmental, social, economic, resource, and lifecycle implications in construction and infrastructure decision-making.

Conduct Applied Research

Develop the ability to identify construction-management problems, formulate research questions, select appropriate methodologies, analyze evidence, and communicate findings.

Educational Objectives

Why Construction Management?

Infrastructure projects are becoming larger, more technically demanding, contractually complex, resource-intensive, and accountable to a wider range of stakeholders.

A technically sound project can still face serious challenges if its scope, time, cost, procurement, contracts, resources, quality, safety, risks, communication, and stakeholders are not managed effectively.

Construction management brings these dimensions together.

The field requires professionals who can understand engineering and construction while also managing organizations, people, resources, information, contracts, uncertainty, and competing project objectives.

M.Sc. Construction Management is designed to strengthen this combination of technical understanding and management capability.
